It took some time, reflection, and digging deep to craft DB’s new mission.
"DanceBoissiere is a dance company under the artistic direction of Jenny Boissiere. As an all-female ensemble, we work collaboratively to create evocative dance works that allow women from various backgrounds to be seen and respected as full, expressive beings. We are powerful, interdependent, and unapologetic in the spaces we occupy, be they onstage, onsite, or on screen."
As I grow as a choreographer and we grow as a group, it felt important to try to hone in on what our focus in our work will be. After some in-depth conversations (thank you Anthony Kuo!), this statement felt right.
