Some Good News! JB/DB Chosen for Seed for Dance Fund!

I’m so excited to kick off this year as one of eight recipients of the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone (UMEZ) Mertz Gilmore Seed for Dance Fund!

This funding will help to create the ReSTART Project, a brand new, LIVE, outdoor performance for Summer 2022.

ReSTART is a site-specific dance piece created for Fort Washington Park. It will feature 7 performers dancing in vignettes across the northern part of the park. The piece culminates in a final group performance overlooking the Hudson River.

Creating more opportunities for dance uptown is essential to bringing live art back to NYC. I’m so thrilled to bring this performance to life and be able to envision a new project for the year.

It’s definitely been a challenging start to 2022, but we will continue to create change and build community through our work!

All good things,

Jenny

With the support of Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and the Upper Manhattan Economic Empowerment Zone, DB is putting on our first show in Harlem! We can’t tell you how excited we are! Please Save the date for September 20th and 21st 2019.

The Empathy Project (working title) is an evening-length immersive dance work. It will dive into themes surrounding empathy and division to better understand how we can connect to one another. This performance will take place at a historical brownstone in Harlem located on Lenox Ave.

We are asking members of our DB and Harlem communities to be a part of this piece by conducting movement interviews. We want to know your definition of empathy? Why do you think division exists? Your interview will help us in our process and possibly be in the performance. If interested, please contact info@danceboissiere.com.
